A meeting was convened at Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's residence to discuss the Lok Sabha election candidates for Punjab. Attendees included Kejriwal, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, General Secretary (Organisation) Sandeep Pathak, Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha, and other leaders from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).
Inconclusive discussions on seat-sharing:
The leaders deliberated on potential candidates from Punjab for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. Additionally, discussions involved exploring the possibility of seat-sharing, but no conclusive decisions were reached during the meeting. Sources indicate that further discussions are planned in the coming days.
AAP and the Congress, both part of the opposition INDIA bloc, have been engaging in seat-sharing talks for several states, including Delhi and Punjab. However, reports suggest that despite talks, the state units of both parties are not inclined towards forming an alliance for the elections.

Contentious issue of seat distribution:
Discussions reportedly included the consideration of sharing six seats each in Punjab, but the Congress asserted its stance, expressing a desire to contest all eight seats it won in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls. In the previous elections, Congress secured eight out of 13 seats in the state, while the SAD-BJP combine won four, and AAP managed to secure one seat.
The INDIA bloc, consisting of parties like Congress and AAP, is yet to finalize a seat-sharing formula for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls expected to take place in April-May. The AAP has conveyed its interest in forming an alliance with the Congress for elections in five states, including Delhi, Goa, Gujarat, Haryana, and Punjab.
